Lockdown 2021

Kia Ora Room 1 parents and students. As you will all know we are now in Level 4 lockdown for the the next 3 days. Due to this, school will not be open. I have created a document with a range of activities for your child to work on during these 3 days. Duffy Books

 We love our new Duffy books!

Egg Drop Experiment

Last Term we designed and created a product to keep our our egg safe when dropped from the school fort. We did such a good job that all of our eggs survived! 

Visual Mihi

Last Term we created a drawing to bring our mihi to life and finished it off with water colour paint.

PJ/Onesie day!

Today we wore our pyjamas and onesies to school to raise awareness, understanding and acceptance for Autism. We all brought along a coin donation to donate to Autism New Zealand. 

We look and feel fantastic!

Hockey

The past few weeks we have been lucky enough to have Ella from Mid Canterbury Hockey come and teach us some new skills. We have loved having her at Netherby and have learnt so much!

Maths Fun!

In Room 1A we are exploring measurement! We have been loving learning about new measuring equipment and how to use it. We have also been learning how to solve questions involving perimeter, area and estimation. 

Swimming

This week has been terrific! We have loved going for swimming lessons and learning lots of new things. We had so much fun!

Buddy Reading

This year we have teamed up with Rūma toru for buddy reading. We have loved hearing their poetry writing and introducing them to some of our favourite books.

Storytelling!

We have been learning all about King Midas in our storytelling story 'Midas's Wish'. Check out some of our story maps.

Room 1A 2021

Welcome to Room 1A 2021! What a wonderful first two weeks we have had back at school. Over these weeks we learnt about the Treaty of Waitangi and thought about how we could incorporate this into our classroom. We decided to make a classroom treaty to display our classroom rules on. We have enjoyed getting back into our learning and are excited for the rest of the year.
